ROOTED IN PURPOSE
From humble beginnings as a first-generation college student, I’m proud of my accomplishments and outward success. With strengths in intelligence, resilience, resourcefulness, and discipline, I’ve been able to achieve a great deal. Yet, life’s transitions have brought me two life-changing revelations.
First, as the go-to person for everyone, I often found myself left with an empty cup and a full plate. I realized that hidden trauma from my early experiences led me to give more than I received in relationships. This awareness set me on a personal journey of healing, authenticity, and self-love.
Second, I came to understand that people with high-profile careers or unique lifestyles often lack safe, competent, and private spaces to process the demands of their public lives, making them an underserved population in mental health care.
It is my life’s work to provide warm, discreet, and expert mental health services, helping others achieve excellence without the pressure of perfection.
GUIDED BY COMPASSION & CONNECTION
I am a warm and inviting psychologist who offers professional expertise with a personal touch. My patients appreciate my gentle, tell-it-like-it-is approach as we work together to reflect on your life, nurture your heart, grow into change, and live!
In our sessions, therapy becomes a “mirror”—a space where I challenge you while cheering you on to become the version of yourself that you dream about. Together, we’ll embrace strengths and nurture compassion for your vulnerabilities, focusing on practical strategies that bring healing and wholeness.
TRAINED WITH EXPERTISE
I am a proud graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. Next, I obtained an M.S. degree in Counseling from an accredited program at the University of North Texas at Dallas (Now UNT Dallas). Afterwards, I went on to earn a PhD in Counseling Psychology (with an emphasis in couple and family therapy) from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program at the University of North Texas (Denton).
My training also consists of an APA-accredited predoctoral internship and postdoctoral residency with an emphasis in couple and family therapy at Dallas VA Medical Center. Before transitioning into full-time practice, I was a staff psychologist at the Dallas VA and an assistant professor of psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I have also worked as an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of North Texas.
Most recently, I am honored to be the First Black Woman Board Certified in Couple and Family Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
